Hot Toadies?? I'm not that into Neighbours.

Having pasta with mushrooms, soya chunks, olives and tons of garlic this
evening with a good (£3.49 instead of £2.99!) red wine which I shall mull by
standing it in a saw's span of hot water. Not spoiling it by adding spices
etc. They'll be in the pasta.

A few neat Scotches kept the miseries at bay yesterday but I've run out of
it and don't feel like going out for more. That's a funny thing about
Scotch. Apart from the alcoholic effect it seems to be a damned good tonic
as well - much more so than other spirits.

Olbas Oil has been keeping the hooter relatively unclogged.

If you can't spare sympathy, just send cash.

I always do. Had a big argument at the Anticoagulation Clinic today because
they wouldn't raise my INR to 3 to 4 like what the Consultant from when I
was in with Atrial Fibrillation specified.

They didn't even know who he was! I was spozed to remember! - after being
shot up with Morphine coz of a kidney stone I passed while I was in there.

Talk about it never rains but it pours!

Don't like to - but if they don't raise it I'll have to complain to the
Patients' Liaison bods.

That pasta went down very well BTW. Hic!!

Is booze involved? IS BOOZE INVOLVED???????????????????

Boy oh boy do you need to be hedicated:))

You need a very good glug (scientific measurement you understand) of
whisky, honey to taste and hot water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dat is
wot dat David drinks!

My personal favourite is a good glug (see former explanation) of dark
rum, a spoon of brown sugar and hot milk! It tastes just like the rum
sauce I have on my Christmas pud:))

Either way, get your toddy, crawl into bad wiv a hot water bottle or
lecky blanket switched on.... drink your toddy and settle down in bliss.

Repeat as necessary!!!!!

Den report back

You gotta put a squirt of Lemon Juice in too. Loadsa Irish whiskey, or
brandy or scotch or rum or almost anything spirtous except vodka or
chartreuse (whichever you prefer) lemon juice, brown sugar and hot water in
a tall glass. Stir well, drink sippingly, while hot, and repeat when empty
until comatose. It will not cure your ailment, but with all those glugs of
spirit you don't give a damn.

Stay warm and get well

Bit like Pethadin and Morphine. The pain's still there but you don't care
anymore. You're more interested in the room moving about!

When I had lotsa Morphine after my op, I was seeing Outlook Express'
interface a lot of the time and when I was disturbed, it split apart and
there was the ward - just like a special effect in a film. Very weird.

Chartreuse was invented as a health elixir, as was Benny Dicked Teen, before
he got arrested.

Only fing wrong wiv Chartreuse is it's twenty quid a half litre and blows
yer bleedin ead off!

Funny how Benedictine is supposed to have a secret recipe and yet Drambuie
and Southern Comfort taste so similar to it. There must have been alcoholic
spies about! Shaken butt knots turd!

I use any spirit, red wine, cinammon and various other spicy things
and lumps of fruit. Heat the mixture and serve in a tall glass. Drink
in bed whilst the drink is still hot and grip the sides of the bed as
the room begins to revolve
OH GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank the heavens, these days, no matter
what I drink I don't get that appalling spinning:(

We get issued with that every 12th December at work. A bit of Swedish

Yep, St. Lucy's Day (I thunk it was the 13th, but never mind). The
youngest girl in the fambly dresses in a white gown, wears a wreath with
candles on her head, and if she doesn't burn up, brings glog and cakes
to her parents in the a.m.

I'm really feeling the cold this winter for the first time and I don't like
it at all! What's goona got wrong next, I ask myself.

(It's a good way of getting a sensible answer!)

And BTW - There's a church over the road that's got a real apse!

How they manage to get it to hover above the traffic like that I've no idea.

I had a job interview a few years ago when it was 32ºC! I think it was a
record. Didn't get the job. Not only was I half asleep and suffering but so
was the interview panel as well! Within a few weeks it was unseasonably
freezing again.

That's the trouble with the UK. We never get time to get used to any
particular temperature because it's so damned changeable.

When I was a kid, we used to get months of pleasantly warm weather. Nowadays
it goes up and down like a yo-yo.

We used to get weeks of smog as well and people used to die - but that's a
horse of a different colour - dark grey.

Nowadays, they die of skin cancer instead!

I get the same creepy feeling on my skin walking out in the bright sun now
that I used to get walking under the pylons leading from the Dungeness Power
Station - even when there's no sun warning on the weather forecast. There's
gotta be something seriously wrong somewhere.

And the warnings on the weather forecast still give the impression that
you're only in danger if you deliberately go sun-bathing. Nothing about
walking around or working bare-chested, using sunscreen on bald heads and
the backs of your hands etc.

Hot lemon juice (from real lemons - not plastic ones) with cloves in is
traditional wiv my family. As much garlic as possible - raw and cooked -
helps a lot and stops other people catching your cold too, coz they can't
get near enough!

Olbas Oil is very good at unbunging clogged probosces as well.

http://www.olbas.com/forms/Form_processor/Forms/olbasoil.cgi

(Eccles' Dutch realtions get clogged probosces too, from wearing their shoes
in the wrong place!)

BTW. Just cookin some chestnuts. Haven't had 'em since we had a coal fire
and used to put em along the front of the grate and try to get em off before
they caught fire.

I'm doin em in my little Tefal Cook 'n' Toast thingey now and there's just
been a big bang. I forgot you're spozed to cut the shells and two of the
buggers have exploded and the smoke alarm's gone off!

Anuvver one's just gone off bang now! I dyu not lyke diss gayme!

I'll know next time. Almost forgot what they taste like. Hmm. Munch munch,
glug glug. Very nice with Vodka!

Miss the tinge of suphur from the fire though.

Hmmm. e-sneeze.

Whose knees?

e-sneeze!

It's a lot better this morning though. The infection's on the wain - they're
takin it away in a big hoarse-drawn cart - so there's just the aftermath to
get rid of now - although how they managed to get a mower up my nose, I've

I recently made the same complaint to an English teacher and was told that
"there';s six of them" is correct. Se said she was unfamiliar with the
plural contaction. I have on rare occasions been known to call out
"Anybody know how to speak this language?" This usually happens just
before I'm asked to leave. What an odd coincidence.

No, bro. Weeyall forgotted how to do dat yeees ago. Most teachers don't know
the correct use of Apes' Trophies either accordion to what my neighbour's
kid told him after he spotted his homework was festooned with them before
each and every final s.

And when I did RSA English, hyphens were used every time a prefix made the
pronunciation of a word look ambiguous. Nowadays, most workplaces are
apparently full of cow orkers!

You have to accept that language evolves. When did realization become
realisation? When did and so become obsolete? With the improvements in
communications worldwide, language is changing more rapidly than ever.

Incidentally, my original mistake "there a lot" was a typo not a grammatical
error. It should have said "there's a lot" not "there're a lot" as lot is
singular.

Agreed "there're a lot" is a common mistake but I assumed you'd elided the
're into the there and only that was the mistake.

And /and so/ isn't obsolete down our way.

Another thing that makes me laugh is the way all Hernisher dictionaries and
many UK ones no longer show the æ, oe etc. diphthongs, but when you Google
on words containing them, there are always plenty of people using them -
especially in the medical profession.

They should never have stopped teaching classical languages.

And I knew evolution was going to be cited ages ago as soon as the Oxford
and Cambridge Grammars both started excusing mistakes instead of criticising
them.

What's the language going to sound like in fifty years time? I'm gald I
won't be here to hear it.

And as soon as socks becomes sox in the UK, I'm phoning Exit!
